The bling all in place makes the beautiful white curves of his kilt look lovely. And his plump little tummy is a delight. You must be relieved to have finally finished him at last, and to have done so very successfully. I’m not surprised that it was often hard to maintain momentum on such a large and varied project.
I remember meeting him in person when he was just a flat piece of fabric, waiting for his first stitch. Hasn’t he grown!
P.S.: I took a little trip on your blog and visited the pages from 2010 about the Piano Shawl. What a lovely and creative piece of work! The piano is very important in our family. We have always had one and I took lessons as a young girl. My children both took years and years of lessons. Victoria-Rose started in preschool and has a degree in music. She teaches both piano and voice now. We have a grand piano which will one day reside in Victoria-Rose’s own home. I am thinking that when I retire I will make a a shawl….a much simpler one than your masterpiece but you have inspired me!
Congratulations! What a fantastic finish!
As I have never tried Goldwork, it has been very interesting to follow your work on this portrait.
I especially like the ‘skirt’ with its belt, and the bellybutton is charming, too.
magnificent, truly,,,,
Well done Rachel! I really enjoyed the journey and your perseverance.
I love him! He’s grumpy and royal and perfect. I hope you like him as much as I do.
