Pooh-Bah, done for now

Head of Pooh-Bah, a few blue stitches on tongue and nose

When I looked harder at the photograph, there was a gleam of blue on the model’s tongue, so I’ve added that. I’ve also tried to increase the contrast with the main body of the animal by creating the impression of shorter fur over the head and muzzle.

Yes, I think that’s working.

Then I worked over the whole animal again. The challenge with Pooh-Bah in particular has been the depth and fluffiness of the fur. I’m not convinced that I’ve made sense of it entirely, and at this point he seemed a little bland, rather than the sober and stately animal of the book. Well, I know how to deal with that – emphasize the darks and the lights, bring some some contrast and shape to the scene.

I think he’s done now. He’s been rather a battle, especially when you consider that there’s a good chance only his head will be on show. But I don’t know that yet, and who knows, I may come up with the final tweak that makes me entirely happy with him.
